The workbook is a resource designed by the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) for self-directed discussions by community groups and neighbourhoods about community issues, opportunities, and actions to be included in the OCP update.

July 19, 2010 ... Whistler residents will receive priority registration for Whistler Parks and Recreation Fall 2010 and Winter 2011 programs.
Whistler residents can register online beginning Sunday, August 15 at 12:01 a.m. or in person and by phone at 9 a.m. Non-Resident registration will begin online on Sunday, August 22 at 12:01 a.m. and in person and by phone at 9 a.m.

RMOW provides updates to air quality bylaw and asphalt plant FAQ's |

July 6, 2010… In May 2010, the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) entered into an agreement with Alpine Paving, which will see the asphalt plant move to a relocation site 150 metres from its current location. Alpine Paving will invest approximately $1 million to upgrade the new asphalt plant with equipment, including a baghouse, to decrease emissions from the new plant and protect air quality in the Cheakamus Crossing neighbourhood.

June 25, 2010 ... The Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) and the Lil’wat and Squamish Nations are partners in the Cheakamus Community Forest tenure because who better to be the stewards of the surrounding forests than the community itself. The three governments are partners in the Cheakamus Community Forest Society, an arms-length corporation, which manages 30,000 hectares of forestland surrounding the RMOW. Its boundaries are based on the previous Local Resource Use Plan boundary, and encompass the Brandywine, Callaghan, Madely, Rainbow, 19 Mile, Wedge, Cheakamus and Daisy Lake areas.

User Pay Parking in Day Lots 1, 2, and 3 Begins June 28 |

RMOW to Provide Free Transit Service in Whistler on June 28
June 21, 2010... On June 28, 2010, user pay parking will begin in Day Lots 1, 2, and 3 on Blackcomb Way. Parking in Lots 4 and 5 will remain free of charge.
Moving toward a user-pay system is recommended in Whistler’s Comprehensive Transportation Strategy; aligns with priorities outlined in Whistler2020, Whistler’s comprehensive sustainability plan and vision; and supports recommendations in Whistler’s 2009 Long-Term Financial Plan. User pay parking is equitable and efficient and places the cost of parking on users, rather than tax payers.

Leading Cultural Tourism Expert Hired to Guide Whistler’s Cultural Tourism Development Plan |

June 8, 2010... An expert in the field of ‘place-based’ cultural tourism has just been hired to work with Whistler’s arts, culture and heritage sector to guide the creation of Whistler’s Cultural Tourism Development Plan (CTDP). Steven Thorne, from Waterloo, Ontario, will be in Whistler for ten days in mid-June to inventory and assess Whistler’s cultural tourism experiences. He will also give a presentation entitled, “Cultural Tourism: A Place-Based Approach,” on Tuesday, June 22 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the MY Place theatre – all are welcome.
