2012 Whistler online community life survey extended to July 29, 2012

July 24, 2012: Whistler, BC – The Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) has extended its online community life survey until July 29, 2012. The survey is available at whistler.ca/survey.

The RMOW’s phone survey of 300 full-time residents and 200 second homeowners was completed during the second half of June. Survey results are now being compiled, and will be presented at a council meeting in September.

The online community survey began July 4 and has been extended until July 29, 2012 to allow as many people as possible to complete it.

Mayor Nancy Wilhelm-Morden said, “We have extended the online survey for another week to give our residents and second homeowners the opportunity to complete it. We have had a good response, so far, with over 150 online surveys completed.”

This is the sixth community life survey conducted by the municipality, and survey results will help to measure performance towards the priorities identified in Whistler2020, Whistler’s comprehensive community plan and vision, as well as resident satisfaction with municipal programs, parks and infrastructure, services, and decision making; the 2013 budget process; taxation; and community engagement.

The survey is designed to support transparency and accountability in municipal operations, to help inform municipal decision making, and to facilitate the measurement of trends over time. This is the second time the municipality has provided an online survey. In December 2010, the online community life survey was completed by 270 people.

Both the online and phone survey are being conducted by the Mustel Group, a market research group, which has been responsible for previous Whistler community surveys. The survey is administered by the Whistler Centre for Sustainability on behalf of the RMOW. All participants will remain anonymous and individual responses will be treated as confidential.
