Whistler Presents
What is Whistler Presents?
The Resort Municipality of Whistler’s (RMOW) Resort Experience department plays a key role in producing and promoting spectator and participatory events, cultural programming and festivals, through the Festivals, Events & Animation (FEA) program. The RMOW launched the FEA program in the summer of 2011 to coincide with the opening of Whistler Olympic Plaza. The program and venue provided the platform for animation to set Whistler apart and build on the momentum of the Games and other successful value-added Whistler festivals and events. The “Whistler Presents” FEA program is funded by the Province of British Columbia’s Resort Municipality Initiative (RMI), with the goal of attracting visitors to Whistler, while working in partnership with Tourism Whistler to promote the programming and associated accommodation packages through various media and communication channels. The 2011 summer season has been a success and the RMOW is reviewing results and developing a plan for the future.
The RMOW also allocates RMI funds to resort partners and programs including: Tourism Whistler, Whistler Chamber of Commerce, Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre, Village Host, Whistler Arts Council, Whistler Film Festival, the Sea to Sky Trail project, as well as a variety of one-off or destination festivals and events.
