On shared unceded L̓il̓wat7úl and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh territory

August 1st, 2025: WHISTLER, BC — The Resort Municipality of Whistler celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, marking five decades of big ideas, bold action, and an unwavering commitment to community. From August 21–24, a four-day celebration will bring locals and visitors together for concerts, culture, and connection. And the milestone doesn’t stop there—special events and community gatherings will continue into the fall to keep the celebrations going.

The theme for the anniversary is “Trailblazers to Tomorrow Makers” as it will pay tribute to Whistler’s adventurous roots while celebrating the people shaping its future. The weekend’s events are designed to highlight the creativity, diversity, and energy that define Whistler today, while acknowledging the deep and storied history of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Peoples and Líl̓wat7úl Peoples, the original stewards of this land.

“Fifty years ago, a small group of passionate people imagined something extraordinary here. That same spirit still drives Whistler today. As we mark this milestone, we honour our past and commit to shaping a future that’s just as bold, connected, and full of possibility.”

— Mayor Jack Crompton, Resort Municipality of Whistler
