EVENTS

Crankworx 20th anniversary 

Crankworx is taking place until Sunday, August 17. A portion of Day Lot 2 parking is used for the Crankworx Demo and Tech area through to Sunday, August 17.  Accessible parking and electric vehicle charging will still be available. Safely park your bikes at the Bike Valet in Olympic Plaza on Wednesday to Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Event details

The Resort Municipality of Whistler turns 50 in 2025 

We’re inviting the community and guests to celebrate with a vibrant four-day event series from Thursday, August 21, to Sunday, August 24. The celebration will be followed by community-focused events into the fall. View event details

GETTING AROUND  

Extra Bike Valet and transit service for Crankworx 

There will be an extra transit service from 8:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, between Creekside and Whistler Village. Bike Valet hours at Whistler Olympic Plaza are extended from 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, and from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, August 16. A bike valet will also be in Creekside from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the downhill mountain bike event on Friday, August 15. 

Valley Trail (VT) detours 

The VT across from the Four Seasons hotel, known as Bridge Meadows trail, will close from Monday, August 18, to Thursday, August 21. The VT from the southeast end of Alpha Lake to the south end of Lake Placid Road will close from Monday, Aug 25, to Friday, September 5. Detours will be in place. 

Free summer weekend transit  

Enjoy free transit in Whistler every Saturday, Sunday and holiday Monday until Labour Day. Download a transit schedule.

Park And Play

PARKS AND TRAILS 

Farside Trail in Cheakamus 

Adaptive mountain bike trail improvements are ongoing; please expect short delays. Be mindful of equipment and crews working. 

Bayly Park BMX track conversion project 

A new bike skills park is under construction at Bayly Park. Please stay out of the area for crew and public safety. 

The Western Toad migration has begun at Lost Lake Park 

A part of the Beach Cut Trail, the single-track hiking trail on the west shoreline of Lost Lake, and the connector trail between Lost Lake Loop and the east side of Lost Lake Beach are closed to protect migrating toads. Detour signage is posted on site. There are no other impacts to Lost Lake Park. Dive into the secret life of Whistler’s Western Toads in our new video.

Rainbow Park beach remains closed for swimming 

Vancouver Coastal Health has directed Rainbow Park beach to be closed due to high levels of coliform in the water. The rest of the park and facilities are open.

River of Golden Dreams (ROGD) mandatory portage 

Due to low water levels on the RODG there is a mandatory portage in effect between the new fish weir and the other side of the CN rail bridge at the bottom of Lorimer Road. Please follow all signage.

Food trucks are in Lakeside Park, Lost Lake Park and Rainbow Park daily. Check out the schedule.  

Comfortably Numb bridge replacement 

The Wedge Bridge (Al Grey Memorial) on Comfortably Numb Trail is being replaced with a new cable suspension bridge. The bridge is closed to the public until Monday, September 8. Access between Wedge and Lost Lake via Comfortably Numb is unavailable. Comfortably Numb North will remain accessible via Young Lust and Comfortably Numb South via a Grey Zone detour. CONSTRUCTION

Fitzsimmons Creek gravel removal program near Spruce Grove

Work will take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m, Monday, August 18 to Tuesday, August 26. Gravel removal is focused on the creek south of Spruce Grove Way. Sections of the Valley Trail adjacent to the creek will be intermittently closed while trucks travel between the road and the creek. Traffic control personnel will be on-site to direct and stop pedestrians as needed. 

FACILITIES AND RECREATION 

Annual maintenance at Meadow Park Sports Centre begins Monday, August 18 

The pool will be closed from Monday, August 18 until Tuesday, September 16. The full facility will be closed from Saturday, August 23, to Monday, September 1. Upgrades include pool painting, changeroom refinishing, sauna repairs, and deep cleaning. Check activity schedules for the best times to play once we reopen. 

Outdoor preparedness for 55 years old plus 

Join Whistler’s Mature Action Community on Saturday, August 16, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Whistler Public Library. Enjoy a morning of learning, connection, and community. Get expert tips from B.C. AdventureSmart and the Whistler Fire Department on outdoor safety, fire prevention, and extreme heat protection for seniors. Enjoy refreshments and connect with fellow adventurers.

Free tire recycling on Saturday, August 23 

Drop-off tires from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Nesters Waste Depot, 8010 Nesters Road. On- and off-rim bike, car, and light truck tires and tubes are allowed. 

WATER MAIN FLUSHING

Unidirectional flushing in the Brio neighbourhood 

Watch for signage at the entrance to the neighbourhood, as it will indicate when we are flushing in the area. At these times, you should limit or avoid using water. Water pressure may be affected and there may be colour in the water. After flushing for the day is complete, please run taps until water is clear. Learn more about water main flushing.
