FACILITIES AND RECREATION 

Celebrate the Paralympic Winter Games at the library 

Whistler Public Library are sharing the CBC Paralympic Winter Games coverage during open hours. The opening ceremony, at noon on Friday, March 6, will have cupcakes and hot chocolate.  

40 Books for 40 Years  

Forty years ago, on August 27, 1986, Whistler Public Library opened its doors for the first time. The library team invites you to celebrate the 40th birthday with a reading challenge: 40 Books for 40 Years. Your challenge is to read 40 books this year – any genre, fiction or non-fiction, and physical books, e-books, and audiobooks are welcome. This challenge is designed to spark curiosity, encourage trying new genres, and reconnect with reading. Learn more

Outdoor skating open daily at Whistler Olympic Plaza until Sunday, March 15 

Join us in the heart of Whistler Village and glide into winter at the Whistler Olympic Plaza outdoor skating rink. Outdoor skating begins daily at 11 a.m. until Sunday, March 15. Visit our website for more info.

Lost Lake Nordic Trails are open

Enjoy cross-country skiing (classic and skate) and snowshoeing daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with night skiing on the Lost Lake Loop. Passes required. Check trail conditions

GETTING AROUND  

Reduced parking and no access to EV chargers at Conference Centre surface parking until Tuesday, March 10 

The Conference Centre surface parking will have fewer parking spaces and no EV charging until Tuesday, March 10 while the EV chargers are upgraded to fast chargers. The underground EV chargers will be removed during this upgrade. Please expect increased traffic during this time.

Winter parking regulations in effect 

Whistler’s winter parking regulations are in effectfrom November 1 to March 31 to help keep roads and parking lots cleared:  

  • No even side parking Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (excluding holidays).  
  • No odd side parking any time during the year.  
  • No overnight parking in the day lots or any other surface level lots in the winter to allow for snow clearing. 

WILDFIRE FUEL MANAGEMENT 

Wildfire fuel management is underway on Alta Lake Road north   

We are managing vegetation in partnership with the Cheakamus Community Forest to reduce wildfire risk along the north end of Alta Lake Road. The work is in the area shown on the map as unit 1. This includes the River Runs Through It trail and Rainbow Express trail area, north of the Whistler Cemetery, and the Rainbow Falls and lower Between the Creeks trail areas. Some trails in the area will have temporary closures: please respect all signs and staff for safety reasons because there will be machinery operating and tree falling. CONSTRUCTION 

RCMP renovation underway 

Please expect reduced parking at Municipal Hall, and increased construction activity, noise and traffic throughout this period. Construction is scheduled until April 2026.
