The Whistler community commemorates Remembrance Day at the municipal cenotaph along Whistler Olympic Plaza.

Here is the weekly update on projects and things of note that may impact your day-to-day life, including events, getting around town, parks, construction, etc. 

FUEL THINNING 

Wildfire fuel management along Highway 99, near Emerald Estates, Rainbow and Alpine Meadows 

We are managing vegetation to lower wildfire risk along Highway 99, in Rainbow and Alpine Meadows. Expect detours on the Valley Trail in these areas. There will also be minor delays and intermittent single-lane alternating traffic on the highway from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays. FACILITIES AND RECREATION

Whistler Public Library Wonder Lab temporary closure 

The Wonder Lab at Whistler Public Library is closed until Sunday, November 30. The small meeting rooms, the new pod, and all other public areas remain open. Click the link for more details. 

LUNA Whistler November launch 

The nights are getting colder, but the LUNA Whistler lineup is heating up. November events include yoga, dodgeball, ping pong, and a wax night. View the program lineup

2025 Co-ed Adult Sports 

Game on! Adult sports nights begin Thursday, November 13. We have something for everyone, from basketball and soccer to volleyball, pickleball, and badminton. Register ahead of time, on your own or bring some friends for a fun night in a social atmosphere. View the schedule (PDF) and register now. 

EVENTS

Remembrance Day ceremony and livestream 

This Saturday, November 8, we honour Indigenous Veterans Day, and on Tuesday, November 11, we invite you to join us at Whistler Olympic Plaza Cenotaph for the annual Remembrance Day ceremony. View the program for the ceremony and access the online steam.   

NOTIFICATIONS 

Yard waste bin notice  

Nesters and Function Junction Waste Depots will collect yard waste until Sunday, November 9. Following this date, you can dispose yard waste to the Whistler Waste Transfer Station in the Callaghan Valley.  

Water quality improvements for South Whistler  

To meet Health Canada’s updated guidelines and help protect your pipes, fittings and fixtures, we will be adjusting the pH levels in South Whistler’s water system. If you’re a business that relies on water, now’s the time to prepare for the pH change. Click the link for more information. 

Canada Post Strike

PARKS AND TRAILS 

Sea to Sky Trail adaptive mountain bike improvements 

Upgrades are underway on a two-kilometre section of the Sea to Sky Trail. The section runs from Bayly Park/Train Wreck Parking south to the Cheakamus River Suspension Bridge. The trail will remain open during construction. Expect work crews and minor delays. The team plans to complete the work by Saturday, November 15, weather permitting. 

Cheakamus Lava Escarpment Park 

Construction of the Cheakamus Lava Escarpment Park has begun and is expected to continue until the end of November 2025. 

CONSTRUCTION 

Sewer and water main repairs continue on Fitzsimmons Walk Valley Trail, Blackcomb Way, Mons Road and Nancy Greene Drive 

Repairs are in progress at several locations. Expect minor delays and single-lane alternating traffic until Friday, November 7. 

Sewer main and manhole inspections program 

Inspections will take place at various locations throughout the Whistler Valley until Friday, November 14. Contractors will have mobile signs out marking their present location while the work is taking place. 

RCMP renovation underway 

Please expect reduced parking at Municipal Hall, and increased construction activity, noise and traffic throughout this period. Construction is scheduled until April, 2026. 

GETTING AROUND  

Winter parking regulations in effect 

Whistler’s winter parking regulations are in effectfrom November 1 to March 31 to help keep roads and parking lots cleared:  

  • No even side parking Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (excluding holidays).
  • No odd side parking any time during the year.  
  • No overnight parking in the day lots or any other surface level lots in the winter to allow for snow clearing. 

Whistler Transit
