Here is the weekly update on projects and things of note that may impact your day-to-day life, including events, getting around town, parks, construction, etc. 

CONSTRUCTION 

Road reconstruction and paving on Blackcomb Way 

Construction will take place from October 20 to 24 along Blackcomb Way, between Lorimer Road and the intersection of the Audain Art Museum and Day Lot 3. This section of Blackcomb Way and the crosswalk will be closed temporarily, and a detour will be in place through the day lots. Please expect minor delays and construction noise. 

Sewer and water main repairs continue on Fitzsimmons Walk Valley Trail, Blackcomb Way, Mons Road and Nancy Greene Drive 

Repairs are in progress at several locations. Expect minor delays and single-lane alternating traffic until Friday, November 7. 

RCMP renovation underway 

Please expect reduced parking at Municipal Hall, and increased construction activity, noise and traffic throughout this period. Construction is scheduled until April 2026.

Low-level flying helicopters  

Low-level flyovers are expected between September 23 and October 23, during daylight hours, as authorized by Transport Canada. This work is part of an annual inspection of high-pressure transmission natural gas lines.

Comfortably Numb bridge replacement complete 

The new Wedge Bridge (Al Grey Memorial) on Comfortably Numb Trail is open. 

Cheakamus Lava Escarpment Park 

Construction of the Cheakamus Lava Escarpment Park has begun and is expected to continue until the end of November 2025. 

GETTING AROUND  

Winter parking regulations in effect from Saturday, November 1  

Whistler’s winter parking regulations are in effectfrom November 1 to March 31 to help keep roads and parking lots cleared:  

  • No even side parking Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (excluding holidays).  
  • No odd side parking any time during the year.  
  • No overnight parking in the day lots or any other surface level lots in the winter to allow for snow clearing.

FUEL THINNING 

Wildfire fuel management along Highway 99, near Emerald Estates 

We are managing vegetation to lower wildfire risk along Highway 99, near Green Lake and the Emerald Estates neighbourhood.
