The artist carved 30 translations of the phrase “once upon a time” into the chair. This chair also has the shape of a blanket across it, as if the storyteller has just left.
Originally from Spain, the artist’s career has taken him around the world, and he won this commission while he was living in Vancouver. This sculpture represents his cosmopolitan background and the diversity of people that come to enjoy Whistler.
