Phase 2 of the Alta Vista Culvert Replacement Works is set to begin Monday, August 21.
This project is crucial for maintaining our stormwater drainage system. The stormwater culvert in Alta Vista is severely corroded and needs to be replaced. A larger diameter concrete culvert is being installed in its place.
Crews have been working hard since early July. We are excited to see the progress that’s been made as Phase 1 wraps, and we thank residents and park users for your patience with the disruption in the area so far!
Phase 2 will include excavation on Hillcrest Drive. A portion of the road will be closed to all traffic (between Alpine Crescent and Lakecrest Lane) from Monday, August 21 to Monday, October 2.
The contractor has built a temporary road connecting the cul-de-sac at Lakeside Road to Hillcrest Drive. This will create a detoured access route for residents that are affected by the closure.
A few things of note:
- The speed limit on the temporary roadway will be 15km/hr.
- A pedestrian crossing will be placed on the temporary road at the intersection where the valley trail connects Lakeside Carpark and Lakeside Park. Please give way to pedestrians at this location when the detour is in effect.
