The Board of Variance is a quasi-judicial body independent from Council that deals with appeals for minor variances to Whistler’s Zoning Bylaw.

Application process
- Determine if your proposal is within the jurisdiction of the Board of Variance.
- Call the Planning Department to schedule a pre-application meeting to discuss your proposal. Staff will review the process, application submission requirements and timing.
- Submit a completed Board of Variance Application (PDF) with all the required documentation and fees. In accordance with Board of Variance Bylaw 2412, 2023, the application fee is $4,000.
- Attend the Board of Variance hearing to present your application.

Meeting schedule
Last Monday of each month (except December), unless staff has determined there are no applications for the Board to consider.
Meetings of the Board of Variance Committee start at 5:30 p.m. and are held over Microsoft Teams.
