EVENTS
The Resort Municipality of Whistler turns 50 in 2025
We’re inviting the community and guests to celebrate with a vibrant four-day event series from Thursday, August 21, to Sunday, August 24. The celebration will be followed by community-focused events into the fall. The Lost Lake Bike Valet and Park Shuttle hours are extended until 11 p.m. for the 50th Anniversary event on Sunday, August 24. View event details.
RBC GranFondo Whistler on Saturday, September 6
Expect major delays when travelling to or from Whistler on Saturday, September 6. Day Lot 4 will be closed to vehicles from 4 p.m. on Thursday, September 4 until 9 p.m. on Saturday, September 6. Day Lot 4 and 5 pass holders are welcome to use their pass to park in Day Lots 1, 2, 3, and 5 on the days that Day Lot 4 is closed for special event operations. GETTING AROUND
Valley Trail (VT) detours
The VT across from the Four Seasons hotel, known as Bridge Meadows trail, will close from Monday, August 18, to Thursday, August 21. The VT from the southeast end of Alpha Lake to the south end of Lake Placid Road will close from Monday, Aug 25, to Friday, September 5. Detours will be in place.
Free summer weekend transit
Enjoy free transit in Whistler every Saturday, Sunday and holiday Monday until Labour Day on Monday, September 1. Download a transit schedule.
Bike Valet
The free summer Bike Valet continues until Labour Day on Monday, September 1, at the Whistler Village Olympic Plaza, Lost Lake Park and Rainbow Park. The Lost Lake Bike Valet and Park Shuttle hours are extended until 11 p.m. for the 50th Anniversary event on Sunday, August 24.
Park And Play
Labour Day on Monday, September 1 is the final day to enjoy the free Lost Lake Shuttle and Rainbow Park Shuttle. PARKS AND TRAILS
Volunteer with your dog to help manage geese in Whistler’s parks
We need volunteers and well-trained dogs with good recall to help us keep geese away from our parks. Your support will aid the RMOW’s Geese Management Program. Click the link to learn more and contact our Environmental Stewardship Team at stewarship@whistler.ca to apply.
Farside Trail in Cheakamus
Adaptive mountain bike trail improvements are ongoing; please expect short delays. Be mindful of equipment and crews working.
Bayly Park BMX track conversion project
A new bike skills park is under construction at Bayly Park. Please stay out of the area for crew and public safety.
The Western Toad migration has begun at Lost Lake Park
Toads are now dispersed throughout the park. Please watch your step and tread lightly. A section of the single-track hiking trail that runs along Blackcomb Creek, parallel to the Lost Lake Loop trail, is closed to protect migrating toads. A part of the Beach Cut Trail, the single-track hiking trail on the west shoreline of Lost Lake, and the connector trail between Lost Lake Loop and the east side of Lost Lake Beach also remain closed. Rainbow Park beach reopened for swimming
Vancouver Coastal Health has indicated the water at Rainbow Park beach and the coliform levels have reduced enough to allow for swimming again.
River of Golden Dreams (ROGD) mandatory portage
Due to low water levels on the RODG there is a mandatory portage in effect between the new fish weir and the other side of the CN rail bridge at the bottom of Lorimer Road. Please follow all signage.

Comfortably Numb bridge replacement
The Wedge Bridge (Al Grey Memorial) on Comfortably Numb Trail is being replaced with a new cable suspension bridge. The bridge is closed to the public until Monday, September 8. Access between Wedge and Lost Lake via Comfortably Numb is unavailable. Comfortably Numb North will remain accessible via Young Lust and Comfortably Numb South via a Grey Zone detour. FACILITIES AND RECREATION
Annual maintenance at Meadow Park Sports Centre begins Monday, August 18
The pool is closed until Tuesday, September 16. The full facility will be closed from Saturday, August 23, to Monday, September 1. Upgrades include pool painting, changeroom refinishing, sauna repairs, and deep cleaning. Check activity schedules for the best times to play once we reopen.
Free tire recycling on Saturday, August 23
Drop-off tires from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Nesters Waste Depot, 8010 Nesters Road. On- and off-rim bike, cars, light truck tires and tubes are allowed.
The Mole Mobile
The Mole Mobile will be completing skin cancer risk assessment & prevention education on Wednesday, August 27 and Thursday, August 28. Clinic Hours are between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Click the link for more info and to sign up.
CONSTRUCTION
Fitzsimmons Creek gravel removal program near Spruce Grove
Work will take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. until Tuesday, August 26. Gravel removal is focused on the creek south of Spruce Grove Way. Sections of the Valley Trail adjacent to the creek will be intermittently closed while trucks travel between the road and the creek. Traffic control personnel will be on-site to direct and stop pedestrians as needed.
Crabapple Sewer Lift Station repairs nearing completion on 6671 Crabapple Drive
Sewer service will continue, and you may notice increased noise and occasional odour around the area. There will be intermittent single-lane alternating traffic on Crabapple Drive until Friday, August 15.
South Whistler Water Supply Upgrade: Function Junction, Cheakamus Crossing, Creekside and surrounding areas
Work continues on the new South Whistler Water Supply Booster Pump Station until Friday, October 10. During this period, residents may notice intermittent discoloration in your water. If this occurs, please run your taps until the water runs clear. You may also detect a chlorine taste or odour in the water. These effects are temporary and will return to normal once the work is complete.
WATER MAIN FLUSHING
Unidirectional flushing in the Brio neighbourhood
Watch for signage at the entrance to the neighbourhood, as it will indicate when we are flushing in the area. At these times, you should limit or avoid using water. Water pressure may be affected and there may be colour in the water. After flushing for the day is complete, please run taps until water is clear. Learn more about water main flushing.
NOTIFICATIONS
Fire danger rating and campfire ban
Whistler’s fire danger rating on Wednesday, August 20, is LOW. A campfire ban is in effect in Whistler until September 15, 2025. The ban applies to all levels of fire danger rating, including low and moderate.
When the fire danger rating is high or extreme, a Wildfire Exemption Permit is required for high-risk construction activity and tree services within 10 metres of forest (or treed areas). This applies at any time of day.

FUEL THINNING
Stonebridge
Fuel thinning in the Whistler Stonebridge treatment unit is underway. Beaver Pass, Whip Me Snip Me, Rainbow Lake, and Lower Beaver Pass trails will be closed to ensure safety to the public. Click the link for more info and to view the map of affected trails.
