EVENTS 

Don’t miss Art on the Lake on July 10 and 11 

A friendly reminder that Lost Lake Park has no parking and is limited to pick-up/drop-off only. Parking is available in Whistler’s Day Lots. From there, you can walk, ride, or catch the free shuttle. GETTING AROUND  

Bike Valet hours have been extended at Whistler Village Olympic Plaza 

The free summer Bike Valet has returned to the Olympic Plaza, Lost Lake Park and Rainbow Park. Hours have been extended at the Olympic Plaza from July 2 to September 1, courtesy of a grant from the BC Cycling Coalition and the Ministry of Transportation and Transit. The Bike Valet at Whistler Village Olympic Plaza is now operating Wednesdays through Sundays, including B.C. Day and Labour Day. Hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and it remains open later on event nights to.  

BC Hydro opens 22 new electric vehicle charging ports in Day Lot 3 

BC Hydro has opened a new electric vehicle charging hub in Lot 3, with 22 new charging ports. According to BC Hydro, it is the largest charge site currently within B.C.

Free summer weekend transit  

Enjoy free transit in Whistler every Saturday, Sunday and holiday Monday until Labour Day. Download a transit schedule.

PARKS AND TRAILS 

Western Toads  

You may see tadpoles at Lost Lake Beach, please look and don’t touch. Naturally occurring salts and oils on human hands can be harmful to tadpoles. Avoid entering wetland zones — these are extremely sensitive habitats. Anyone wishing to volunteer with the Western Toad migration can reach out to stewardship@whistler.ca. The migration is approaching and typically begins late July. For more info visit whistler.ca/toads.  

Park Eats 

Food trucks are in Lakeside Park, Lost Lake Park and Rainbow Park daily. Check out the schedule.  

Pine Point Park improvements 

Trail improvement work continues. Please note there is limited access to the new trail leading to the waterfront during this time. Click the link for more details about park improvements. 

Comfortably Numb bridge replacement 

The Wedge Bridge (Al Grey Memorial) on Comfortably Numb Trail is being replaced with a new cable suspension bridge. The bridge is closed to the public from Sunday, June 1, to Friday, August 1. Access between Wedge and Lost Lake via Comfortably Numb is unavailable. Comfortably Numb North will remain accessible via Young Lust and Comfortably Numb South via a Grey Zone detour. CONSTRUCTION  

Road paving on Lorimer Road 

We will be paving Lorimer Road, from Balsam Way to Piccolo Drive, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on July 7 to 11. Expect single-lane alternating traffic, minor traffic delays, and noise, dust, and construction equipment in the area. Traffic control personnel will be on-site to manage flow and ensure safety. 

Road closures on Mons Road 

Sewer and water main repairs are in progress. Expect single-lane alternating traffic and traffic control personnel in place. Water main repairs are in progress at the entrance to Spruce Grove and the intersection of Mons Road until Friday, July 11. 

Crabapple Sewer Lift Station repairs on 6671 Crabapple Drive  

We will temporarily bypass the sewer lift station for repairs on the sewer main from Thursday, June 19, to Monday, July 14. Service will remain continuous, but you may notice increased noise and occasional odour in the area during this time. There will be intermittent single-lane alternating traffic on Crabapple Drive until Friday, August 8.  

Needed repairs at Blueberry Pump Station S115 

Emergency work at Blueberry Pump Station is underway. The work includes concrete pad demolition, piling and other needed repairs. The team is expected to complete all the work in June. 

South Whistler Water Supply Upgrades Project – Phase II 

Construction continues at the Cheakamus pump station, 1101 Cheakamus Lake Road. For more info. 

FUEL THINNING 

Stonebridge 

Fuel thinning in the Whistler Stonebridge treatment unit has commenced. Beaver Pass, Whip Me Snip Me, Rainbow Lake, and Lower Beaver Pass trails will be closed to ensure safety to the public. Click the link for more info and to view the map of affected trails. 

Brio Woodchip Removal and Transport to Callaghan Composter 

An area of forest south of Panorama Ridge underwent fuel management last year. The resulting biomass was chipped and piled on-site. We are now working with local contractors to facilitate the removal of all chips off-site to the Callaghan composter. Work will be complete by Friday, July 11.  

NOTIFICATIONS 

Fire danger rating and campfire ban 

Whistler’s fire danger rating on Thursday, July 3, is HIGH. A campfire ban is in effect in Whistler until September 15, 2025. The ban applies to all levels of fire danger rating, including low and moderate. 

When the fire danger rating is high or extreme, a Wildfire Exemption Permit is required for high-risk construction activity and tree services within 10 metres of forest (or treed areas). This applies at any time of day.

WATER MAIN FLUSHING  

Unidirectional flushing in Alpine North 

Watch for signage at the entrance to the neighbourhood, as it will indicate when we are flushing in the area. At these times, you should limit or avoid using water. Water pressure may be affected and there may be colour in the water. After flushing for the day is complete, please run taps until water is clear. Learn more about water main flushing.
