Recreation programs – Whistler resident status confirmation
This season we are confirming where our customers live as Council policy and part of municipally legislated pay schedules. Your resident status will change to non‑resident on June 22, until you visit Meadow Park Sports Centre to verify your residency in person. Our Recreation Department prioritizes programming for Whistler’s taxpayers and charges non-residents an additional access fee for our upkeep. This fee is used for maintenance and investment to keep recreation in our town as safe and affordable as possible for all customers, residents and non-residents.

Whistler Youth Centre is holding a Grade 7 open house on June 24
The Whistler Youth Centre is holding a Grade 7 Open House from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24. All local Grade 7 grads are welcome to attend with their parents.
40 Books for 40 Years
Forty years ago, on August 27, 1986, Whistler Public Library opened its doors for the first time. The library team invites you to celebrate the 40th birthday with a reading challenge: 40 Books for 40 Years. Your challenge is to read 40 books this year – any genre, fiction or non-fiction, and physical books, e-books, and audiobooks are welcome. This challenge is designed to spark curiosity, encourage trying new genres, and reconnect with reading. Learn more.
Food trucks are back in Whistler’s parks
From June 26 through September 7, Lost Lake Park and Rainbow Park will have food trucks daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lakeside Park, Alpha Lake Park and Whistler Olympic Plaza will have food trucks on specific dates and for some events. Find the full schedule and vendors.
Volunteer with your dog to help manage geese in parks
Do you have a well-trained dog with strong recall? Our Environmental Stewardship team is looking for volunteer helpers to help manage geese in Whistler parks. The commitment is for at least three weekday mornings each week through spring and summer. Read more.
Landscaping staff are maintaining Village and parks now Whistler Cemetery planting is complete
As we move into summer, the Whistler Cemetery planting is complete, all Whistler’s park lawns are open and the Village Stroll is planted with flowers and hanging baskets. Parks staff are now focused on regular maintenance, mowing, weeding and irrigation testing and repairs throughout the parks and Village. Staff are working to get water at Meadow Park during the construction work there to sprinkle the lawn.
Rainbow Lake trail closed
The Rainbow Lake hiking trail is closed until early August while the Gin and Tonic bridge and A-Frame bridge are replaced. The Rainbow Falls Loop and Flank Trail will stay open, but there’s no access above the Flank Trail.
NOTIFICATIONS
Water main flushing in Blueberry, Benchlands, Nicklaus North, Nesters, Spruce Grove and White Gold
We are flushing water main pipes in Blueberry the week of June 15 and then in Benchlands and continuing flushing for the next few weeks. This improves water quality and maintains the water system.
During flushing, you may have temporary water discolouration. You may also notice lower water pressure and more water flowing in the street and ditches. If your water is discoloured, run the cold tap for 15 to 30 minutes until your water runs clear. Avoid doing laundry until the water is clear again. Contact us at 604-935-8190 or email engineers@whistler.ca if your water continues to be discoloured.
Property tax notices have been posted and emailed. Payment is due July 2
If you’re a property owner, you have been sent your property tax notice by email on May 22 (if you’re signed up to MyWhistler) or by post on May 25. If you didn’t receive it, please visit MyWhistler or reach out to our Finance Department at finance@whistler.ca or 604-935-8130. Read more about paying property tax.
Whistler high school students: Apply to be the library’s Youth Ambassador Trustee
Whistler Public Library is searching for their next Youth Ambassador Trustee. This is a volunteer role for a Whistler high school student to serve on the library’s Board of Trustees from September 2026 to June 2027. Applications need to be submitted by July 15.
Campfire ban
Campfires are banned in Whistler. All campfire permits are suspended during the ban. CSA- and ULA-rated propane campfire apparatus are permitted when used in a way that complies with regulations.

Whistler is in Water Conservation Stage 2
In-ground automatic irrigation systems can water three days a week between the hours of 10 p.m. and 4 a.m., with the days determined by your address.
Edible gardens can be watered by any irrigation method any day of the week between 7 and 10 a.m., as well as 8 to 11 p.m. Trees, shrubs and flower beds can be watered manually or by hand any day of the week between 7 and 10 a.m. as well as 8 to 11 p.m.
It’s essential to conserve water both for drinking and to fight structural fires. This year we have a very low snowpack that could lead to summer drought.

You can drop off yard waste for free at the Nesters and Function depots until November.

Celebrate Canada Day July 1
Celebrate Canadian pride in the heart of Whistler with a vibrant, inclusive day of community connection. Enjoy a lively non-motorized parade, engaging village animations with storytelling, lively activations and local performances. DJ Foxy Moron performs at Whistler Olympic Plaza at 6:30 p.m. and headliner Steven Page Trio with String Quartet perform at 7:30 p.m.

WILDFIRE FUEL MANAGEMENT
Alta Lake Road north
We are managing vegetation in partnership with the Cheakamus Community Forest to reduce wildfire risk along the north end of Alta Lake Road. Work continues in the unit 2 and unit 5 areas on the map. This work involves temporary trail closures on: Barts Dart Trail, River Runs Through It Access Trail, A River Runs Through It and Get Over It. Work also requires intermittent closures on the gravel pit access road down from Alta Lake Road, this doesn’t include the Emerald Forest section.

Highway 99: between Panorama Ridge and the Alta Vista Works Yard (east side of Highway)
We are managing vegetation on the east side of Highway 99 between Panorama Ridge and the Alta Vista Works Yard; this work will continue until around June 12.

CONSTRUCTION
Paving work at McKeevers Place in Alpine neighbourhood: from Alpine Way intersection to McKeevers Place cul-de-sac
We are paving at McKeevers Place in the Alpine neighbourhood from Monday, June 29 to Friday, July 3, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Intersection at Alpine Way and McKeevers Place: There will be minor traffic delays, congestion and traffic control for turning in and out at McKeevers Place.
McKeevers Place: There will be single-lane alternating traffic, which may result in minor traffic delays, congestion, and increased noise. Construction equipment will be present.
Traffic control personnel will be on-site to direct traffic and ensure passage through the work zone.
Construction on Millars Pond sewer lift station replacement underway
The Millars Pond sewer lift station replacement project is underway and will be completed in early October. The project is located at 2773 Cheakamus Way in the Bayshores neighborhood.
Residents may experience increased traffic and noise in the area. Please follow all posted signage.
Water corrosion control system upgrades underway at Emerald UV Water Treatment Station
The water corrosion control system upgrades at the Emerald Estates Water Treatment Station, on 9523 Emerald Drive, are underway. They are scheduled to be complete in November 2026. Once the new water treatment system is installed, we will notify residents before we start using the new system to improve water quality.
Please use caution if you are using trails in this area because there may be minor detours. Please follow all signage.
Construction on the roof canopy at 4191 Gate Way Drive
Urgent construction to repair the roof at 4191 Gate Way Drive, near the Village taxi loop on Gateway Drive is underway.
This emergency construction work will fence off sections and pedestrian access will have temporary detours. Businesses will remain open as usual during construction.
Brio water services and valve replacement underway
The first phase of the Brio water services and valve replacement project on Panorama Ridge is underway. It will be completed by early October. The project will replace water services and valves at the end of their service life.
During construction, residents will have 72 hours’ notice before the water service is temporarily shut off. Expect single-lane alternating traffic, increased noise and traffic congestion. Construction equipment will be active on the site and in the surrounding area. Please follow directions from signs and traffic controllers.
Meadow Park rejuvenation work is underway
Fully funded by the Province of B.C. through the Resort Municipality Initiative, this project will replace the Meadow Park playground, splash park and realign the Valley Trail. This project will also transition the ball fields into open greenspace with a fenced off-leash dog area. There will be varying closures within the parks and adjacent parking areas over the spring and summer while our crews complete this exciting project. Meadow Park playground and spray park close for construction until November 30. Discover our other great locations to play.
RCMP renovation underway
Please expect reduced parking at Municipal Hall, and increased construction activity, noise and traffic throughout this period. Construction is scheduled until October.
