Spread joy – Whistler’s top 10 Food Bank donations

Publication Date: December 7, 2023

Stock shelves and fill hearts during the season of giving.

The Whistler Food Bank is experiencing a surge in demand, with record numbers of people accessing food security programs. Visitation to the Whistler Food Bank, operated by Whistler Community Services Society (WCSS), is now 5 times higher than in 2019.

Here’s your chance to make a difference and support those in need with low-barrier access to healthy food options. This December, donate food items at one of two locations for a chance to win a 1-month pass for Meadow Park Sports Centre.

To maximize the impact of your donation, consider contributing high-protein items such as beans, canned fish, and meat, as well as eggs and egg cartons.

Here are the top 10 most needed non-perishable food types for the Whistler’s Food Bank:

  • Canned fruit or vegetables
  • Canned tuna
  • Rice
  • Pasta & sauce
  • Peanut butter or other nut butters
  • Cereal
  • Healthy kids’ snacks
  • Dried beans
  • Kraft dinner
  • Canned chili
