Welcome back to the fitness studio

Select low-intensity fitness classes have resumed in-person* at Meadow Park Sports Centre.  A combination of low-intensity and high-intensity classes remain available online. Scroll to the bottom of this page to see detailed class descriptions. 

*Subject to any additional Provincial Health Order changes.

New requirements for in-person classes as per the Public Health Order:

  • Maximum of 9 participants plus 1 instructor in the fitness studio
  • Classes will be scheduled 30 minutes apart to ensure no overlap between different class participants.
  • Class start times are staggered with the pool and weight room timeslot start times to alleviate congestion at the front desk area.
  • Music volume must be kept low, at a talking level, so no one has to yell to be heard
  • Each person must stay in their designated exercise space for the duration of the class

The following requirements remain the same:

  • Equipment cannot be shared
  • Hands must be sanitized before and after class.  Sanitizer is provided at studio doors.
  • Equipment must be wiped, with provided cloth and sanitizer, before and after each use
  • Physical distancing (2.5 meters) must be maintained at all times during class and when entering and exiting the fitness studio.

Meadow Park Sports Centre mask policy

  • Masks are mandatory in all municipal facilities, except while directly engaging in physical activities. You will be required to wear your mask at all other times during your visit. For more information on RMOW mask policies.

Cancellation policy

Reservations can be cancelled without penalty, up to 12-hours before the class by emailing recreation@whistler.ca or calling 604-935-PLAY (7529). 

**Please note that you cannot cancel bookings online**

Guest who no-show or cancel inside of 12 hours will be charged.

  • Playtime Cards: A punch will be taken off of your pass (as if you had visited the facility)
  • Active Member Passes: Annual and monthly pass holders will be charged a $6 cancellation fee (equivalent to 1 punch off a 30x card) 
  • Passes will be frozen until all fees are collected
  • ​Guests who repeatedly no-show or cancel inside of 12 hours could lose their booking privileges and temporary access to the facility

Guests who cancel due to illness will not be charged a cancellation fee, but for precautionary reasons, all upcoming bookings will be cancelled, and your membership will be frozen for 14 days. 

Book your group fitness class

For in-person:

  • Class size is a maximum of 9 participants to allow for physical distancing
  • Reservations are currently restricted to MPSC passholders; no stand-by or drop-in access.
  • Your reservation includes access to the fitness class only. Change rooms and shower facilities remain closed. To utilize the gym, swim in the pool or attend public skate you must make a separate reservation.

For on-line:

  • Sign up online for all classes at least 30 minutes prior to start time
  • A ZOOM link will be sent to you via email 30 min prior to class start time.
  • To sign up within 30 minutes of the class start time you will need to call 604-935-PLAY(7529) and you will receive the link upon registration.
  • Select in-person classes may be streamed via ZOOM as well. Registration is required.

Be prepared for your upcoming visit

Prior to entering the facility

  • Arrive dressed in your workout clothes with your gym shoes in hand no more than 10 minutes prior to the start of your class
  • Masks are mandatory in all municipal facilities except while engaging in physical activities. You will be required to wear your mask at all other times during your visit. For more information on RMOW mask policies.
  • Limited storage space will be available on-site, so please only bring necessary items
  • Change rooms, shower facilities and lockers are not available
  • Bring your own pre-filled water bottle

General Guidelines for use

  • Stay home if you have any cold or flu-like symptoms
  • Self-isolate after travel and after exposure to a confirmed COVID-19 case
  • Sanitize your hand on entry
  • Practice physical distancing of 2.5 meters or 8.2 feet at all times
  • Follow the directional arrows and keep your distance
  • Adhere to maximum capacities of guests permitted in each room at one time
  • Do not enter any closed areas of the facility including the change rooms or showers
  • Do not congregate in large groups
  • Participants will need to agree to the verbal PAR-Q (in-person and on-line) and verbal COVID-19 questionnaire (in-person only) prior to each class

Prior to attending your class

  • Do not congregate in the lobby. Access to the studio is one person at a time while maintaining the required 2.5 meters of physical distancing
  • Follow the one-way directional arrows to get to your desired location; no loitering in the hallway
  • Sanitize your hands on entry to the studio
  • Each user will be given a bottle of sanitizer and a cloth to wipe down their mat and equipment both before and after use

During your class

  • Individual workout spaces will be designated during your class. Stay within your workout space
  • Sanitize your mat and equipment before and after use
  • Washrooms are available in the squash lobby
  • A water bottle fill station is available in the squash lobby

Exiting the fitness studio

  • Please return the sanitizer bottle and deposit your used cloth at the studio exit door
  • When exiting the studio, leave 1 person at a time and ensure the lobby is clear

Included classes

These classes are included with your active membership for no extra charge.  Paying a single class fee is also an option for guests without memberships.  Included class registration is available online up to 72 hours in advance of the class start.  

  • Aqua Fit Deep/Shallow: Join us for this refreshing aerobic workout if you want to train your cardio vascular system in a new environment, are coming back to training after an injury. This class is a great alternative for those wanting a low impact aerobic workout to boost training volume. Splash your way into shape with invigorating low-impact aquatic exercises classes that are INCLUDED with your admission fee or pass. We will stay within the new Public Health Order guidelines and keep it low intensity and max only 10 people per class.
  • Low Impact Strength & Stretch: Join this class to get a fun, full body workout in a safe and non-competitive environment.  The goal of this class is to increase strength, balance and coordination. Suitable for everyone including seniors and those returning to exercise from injury.  
  • Mind and Body Stretch: End your hectic day with slow paced movements and stretches that are easy on the body and the brain. Reap both physical and mental benefits while we slowly move between poses with a focus on proper technique, body placement, and breathing. If you’re looking for a class that will loosen your muscles and mind in a non-competitive environment, then this one is for you.
  • Mountain Ready Strength and Structure: Train with the mountains in mind. Incorporating full body strengthening, balance, core control and targeted mobility, this class will help restore imbalances, increase your strength and have you feeling great for your days on the hill. Low intensity throughout, this class is suitable for everyone looking to make the most out of their mountain sports, from complete beginners to seasoned pros.
  • Slow Flow Yoga:  Take time at the end of your day to slow down and spend some conscious time in your body. Reset and re-calibrate with this slow, flow style class. You will get the chance to move your body, breathe with intention, process stress and build resilience.
  • Strength Builder: This muscular endurance-focused class will help you build strength in all the major muscle groups of the body. Classes will include isometric holds, pulses, and high rep ranges to enhance strength and stability for all your activities outside of the gym. 
  • Strong Glutes & Core: Time to get specific with Glutes and Core and target the body parts that tend to get lazy. This class will focus on corrective work, focusing on those strong foundations to promote healthy glutes and an active core, mobile hips, aiding injury prevention and even making some esthetic gains!
  •  Zumba: This class is an exhilarating, effective, easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired, calorie-burning dance fitness-party™. No dance experience required. Bring a smile and your sneakers and get ready to have fun dancing away the pounds.
  • Body Pump Boot Camp:  Get Strong, lean and fit with this class. Recruiting all the main muscle groups, this fun workout will get your muscles burning, your heart rate up and you’ll leave sweaty, stronger and satisfied.
  • High Impact:  This all body workout will focus on raising your heart rate and burn fat. Bring your smiles and positive vibes for a great class that will tick all your boxes. 
  • Sweat Effect:   Move with intention and plan to break some barriers of the same old thing. This high intensity, high impact, and fast moving class designed with creative exercise combinations and rep patterns will increase your metabolism, strength, and all ‘round fitness levels.
Flex reg classes

These classes have a separate fee and allow you to register for classes on the days that fit your schedule.

  • Subtle Power Yoga:  The “Power” in power yoga comes from the ability to acknowledge, draw from, find, harness, and bring to the surface the subtle power that already exists in all of us.  This yoga class will provide intentional, focused movement to the rhythm of your own breath in order, to harness your own inner power. Focus on building strength and resilience in your own body, whilst moving within the confines of your own mat.  $5 /person /class for Whistler Residents or $6.75 /person /class for non-Whistler Residents
  • Mind-Body Stretch & Core:  Let's get loose! We'll use flowing mobility and core exercises to prepare us for a focused flexibility session in this low-impact combination class. $5 /person /class for Whistler Residents or $6.75 /person /class for non-Whistler Residents
Registered classes

These classes have a separate fee and a defined start and end date.  Pre-registration is required for the entire set of classes. 

  • Family Yoga: Family yoga is a fun and lively class bringing families together. Using group and partner poses family members can reconnect with each other and find their playful side! Breath practices will be explored to calm, physical postures to build strength and flexibility. The class is an informal and active session giving kids and parents alike permission to PLAY! Everyone is welcome! Parent/Guardian and Child/Children together. Children must be at least 5 years old. $72 for 6 weeks per Whistler family. $95 for 6 weeks per non-Whistler family.
  • Gentle Fit for Seniors (offered online & in-person):  Join this class to get moving at your pace and be surrounded by your peers. You will benefit from instruction on exercises for strength and flexibility, better posture and balance, coordination and agility. Beginners welcome. Online Mon and Wed ONLY.  Fridays is In-person OR ONLINE. Whistler Residents pay $60 for whole month. Non-residents pay $80.              
Youth Fitness

Registered classes - These classes have a separate fee and a defined start and end date.  Pre-registration is required for the entire set of classes. 

  • Grrrls’ Strength and Boys’ Strength Boot Camp :  Is a fun workout for everyone looking to kick start their fitness goals. The 45 min classes are a mix of mobility, flexibility, plus strength training designed for any fitness level. If your new to fitness or have tried working out before, Bootcamp will constantly challenge you with its variety and by offering you positive motivational support every class. A great way to stay fit and learn new stuff with friends in a non-competitive program!   
Children's Fitness

Registered classes - These classes have a separate fee and a defined start and end date.  Pre-registration is required for the entire set of classes. 

  • Yoga for Kids (6-9 year olds): Throughout this series, we will be working on strength, resilience/regulation while exploring calm. Sessions will encourage self-awareness and self-expression through yoga poses, breath work, creative play, and sound in a non-competitive atmosphere.  We will also focus on curiosity and building confidence. The class environment is inclusive, with no experience necessary.  Come move and breathe with Heidi. For 6 weeks:  $60 per Whistler resident child. $78 per non-Whistler resident child.
