Fire Prevention Week 2025 is from Sunday, October 5 

This year’s campaign goal is to share how to safely use lithium-ion batteries, and the importance of buying, charging, and recycling these batteries safely. Click the link for more information. You can find the Whistler Fire Rescue Service team outside of Blenz Coffee on Sunday, October 5, from 12 to 2 p.m. You can also catch them at Fresh Street Market on Wednesday, October 8, and Friday, October 10, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Transit 

We are offering free transit in Whistler on Tuesday, September 30 for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Download a transit schedule. 

NOTIFICATIONS 

Fire danger rating and campfire ban 

Whistler’s fire danger rating on Wednesday, September 24, is MODERATE. A campfire ban remains in effect in Whistler until noon on September 25, 2025. A permit is required for all campfires within the Resort Municipality of Whistler when the fire conditions allow for it. 

When the fire danger rating is high or extreme, a Wildfire Exemption Permit is required for high-risk construction activity and tree services within 10 metres of forest (or treed areas). This applies at any time of day.

Whistler is in Water Conservation Stage 2

Low-level flying helicopters  

Low-level flyovers resume between September 23 and October 23, during daylight hours, as authorized by Transport Canada. This work is part of an annual inspection of high-pressure transmission natural gas lines.  

CONSTRUCTION 

Nancy Greene Drive will be closed to vehicles for essential sewer main repairs on Monday, October 6, and Tuesday, October 7

Pedestrian and cyclist access will remain open, and a detour route will be in place. Additional repair work is ongoing at several locations, including Fitzsimmons Walk Valley Trail, Blackcomb Way, Mons Road, and other sections of Nancy Greene Drive. Residents and visitors should expect minor delays and single-lane alternating traffic from Monday, September 8 through Friday, November 7. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this important infrastructure work. 

Fenced and gated car park outside the Public Safety Building at 4315 Blackcomb Way 

Some trees will be removed at 4315 Blackcomb Way on Thursday, September 26, to create space for a fenced and gated car park. 

RCMP renovation underway 

Please expect reduced parking at Municipal Hall, and increased construction activity, noise and traffic throughout this period. Construction is scheduled until April, 2026. 

South Whistler Water Supply Upgrade: Function Junction, Cheakamus Crossing, Creekside and surrounding areas 

Work continues on the new South Whistler Water Supply Booster Pump Station until Tuesday, September 30. During this period, residents may notice intermittent discolouration in your water. If this occurs, please run your taps until the water runs clear. These effects are temporary and will return to normal once the work is complete. 

FUEL THINNING 

Wildfire fuel management along Highway 99, near Emerald Estates, starts Monday, October 6 

We are managing vegetation to reduce wildfire risk along Highway 99 in two areas near Green Lake, in the Emerald Estates neighbourhood. View our website to learn more and see the map of the affected area.  

Stonebridge 

Fuel thinning in the Whistler Stonebridge treatment unit is underway. Beaver Pass, Whip Me Snip Me, Rainbow Lake, and Lower Beaver Pass trails will be closed to ensure safety to the public. Click the link for more info and to view the map of affected trails. 

PARKS AND TRAILS 

Parks Parking 

Seasonal pay parking has ended at Alpha Lake Park, Wayside Park, Rainbow Park and Lakeside Park. Parking is also now available at Lost Lake Park. Visit Parks parking for more information. 

Cheakamus Lava Escarpment Park 

Construction of the Cheakamus Lava Escarpment Park has begun and is expected to continue until the end of November 2025. 

Farside Trail in Cheakamus 

Adaptive mountain bike trail improvements are ongoing; please expect short delays. Be mindful of equipment and crews working. 

Bayly Park BMX track conversion project 

A new bike skills park is under construction at Bayly Park. Please stay out of the area for crew and public safety. 

River of Golden Dreams (ROGD) mandatory portage 

Due to low water levels on the RODG there is a mandatory portage in effect between the new fish weir and the other side of the CN rail bridge at the bottom of Lorimer Road. Please follow all signage. 

Comfortably Numb bridge replacement 

The Wedge Bridge (Al Grey Memorial) on Comfortably Numb Trail is being replaced with a new cable suspension bridge. The bridge remains closed. Opening of the new bridge is expected in late October. Access between Wedge and Lost Lake via Comfortably Numb is unavailable. Comfortably Numb North will remain accessible via Young Lust and Comfortably Numb South via a Grey Zone detour.
