Key updates for the week of June 9, 2025 | Resort Municipality of Whistler
CONSTRUCTION
Comfortably Numb bridge replacement
The Wedge Bridge (Al Grey Memorial) on Comfortably Numb Trail will be replaced with a new cable suspension bridge. The bridge will be closed to the public from Sunday, June 1, to Friday, August 1. Access between Wedge and Lost Lake via Comfortably Numb will be unavailable. Comfortably Numb North will remain accessible via Young Lust and Comfortably Numb South via a Grey Zone detour. Road closures on Blackcomb Way and Nancy Greene Drive
The northbound lane on Blackcomb Way, from Lorimer Road to Settebello Drive, and Nancy Greene Drive will be closed for sewer valve and fitting repairs from Tuesday, June 24, to Friday, July 11. Detours and single-lane alternating traffic will be in place for local traffic only. Expect additional road closures from Wednesday, June 18, to Monday, June 23, on Nancy Green Drive, including the south side of Fitzsimmons Walk Valley Trail to the Fitzsimmons North/South Intersection. Crews will also be working along Fitz Walk Valley Trail, with minor diversions and traffic control in place. Click the link for maps and further info.
Blackcomb Way
Bridge deck repairs will take place on the Blackcomb Way pedestrian overpass, near the Whistler Blackcomb Admin building, until Friday, May 30. Expect single-lane alternating traffic and slight delays.
EV Charger Installation
The Day Lot 3 EV charger installation project, in partnership with BC Hydro, has begun. Expect reduced parking in Day Lot 3 for the upcoming months during this construction.
Needed repairs at Blueberry Pump Station S115
Emergency work at Blueberry Pump Station is underway. The work includes concrete pad demolition, piling and other needed repairs. The team is expected to complete all work in June.
South Whistler Water Supply Upgrades Project – Phase II
Construction continues at the Cheakamus pump station, 1101 Cheakamus Lake Road. For more info.

Meadow Park Sports Centre

Spring GoByBike Week spinning from Saturday, May 31 to Friday, June 6

GETTING AROUND
Summer transit in Whistler
Free summer transit begins on weekends from Saturday, June 21. The free Whistler Park Shuttles will also return on Saturday, June 21. Explore how to get to parks and download a Whistler transit schedule.
WATER MAIN FLUSHING
Unidirectional flushing in Emerald
Watch for signage at the entrance to the neighbourhood, as it will indicate when we are flushing in the area. At these times, you should limit or avoid using water. Water pressure may be affected and there may be colour in the water. After flushing for the day is complete, please run taps until water is clear. Learn more about water main flushing.
FUEL THINNING
Stonebridge
Fuel thinning in the Whistler Stonebridge treatment unit has commenced. Beaver Pass, Whip Me Snip Me, Rainbow Lake, and Lower Beaver Pass trails will be closed to ensure safety to the public. Click the link for more info and to view the map of affected trails.
PARKS AND TRAILS
Summer food trucks
The Park Eats program brings delicious food and beverage to Whistler’s parks during summer. Early season offerings at Lost Lake Park and Rainbow Park begin on Friday, May 16, with food trucks on Fridays to Mondays. Click the link to view the vendors and locations.
Rainbow Park Rejuvenation
Final improvements at Rainbow Park will take place from now until Friday, May 30. The park, washrooms and Valley Trail will remain open to the public. The work includes a new bike rack and bike share station. It also includes park hammock improvements, extra irrigation and shrub replacements. Lawn leveling will take place, and the washroom area will be finished, including railway crossing surface replacement, bee turf and wildflower seeding.
Pine Point Park improvements
Trail improvement work continues. Please note there is limited access to the new trail leading to the waterfront during this time. Click the link for more details about park improvements.
NOTIFICATIONS
Property tax notice 2025
Tax notices and utility bills have arrived. Property taxes are due in Whistler on Wednesday, July 2. Click the link for details.
Low-level flying helicopters
Low-level flyovers are expected between May 14 and June 15, during daylight hours, as authorized by Transport Canada. This work is part of an annual inspection of high-pressure transmission natural gas lines.
Fire danger rating
Whistler’s fire danger rating on Thursday, May 29, is low. Click the link to view the daily fire danger rating. Whistler is listed as “Cheakamus”.
