Sewer Main and Manhole Lining

Overview

The purpose of this project is to line our existing sewer main and manholes to prevent corrosion and extend the lifespan of the existing infrastructure. The sewer main and manhole lining is a trenchless technology; this method is less disruptive to the community. Not only will the lining of the sewer mains and manholes prevent corrosion, but also decrease groundwater infiltration into the sewer system.

Two locations on the Village Stroll (see map below) will undergo sewer main repairs in the spring of 2024.

Timeline

  • Tuesday, April 30 and Friday, May 3 – Construction

Construction Impact

Our Infrastructure Services team have planned for the work to be completed in the shoulder season when pedestrian traffic is seasonally lower to minimize impacts on local businesses and visitors.

Construction impacts will include:

  • Sewer and exhaust odour.
  • Loud noise during the sewer lining process. Noise tends to amplify within the Village Stroll corridor.
  • Construction vehicles staged in front of some patio seating areas which will likely need to be closed due to noise and odour.
  • Congestion for pedestrians from construction vehicles and equipment working on the Village Stroll. Traffic control measures and personnel will be on site.

The work hours of operation are expected to be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for four days, Tuesday through Friday.

The work will take approximately one day at each of the Segments marked on the map below. It will start at Segment 1 (in front of Il Caminetto), moving to Segment 2 (across from Pangea Pod), then Segment 3 in Village Square, before moving on to Segment 4 (across from Tapley’s).
