Background
The assessment and design phases were finalized by R.F. Binnie and Associates Ltd. in 2020 and 2021, respectively. Council passed a resolution for the contract on March 19, awarding it to Coastal Mountain Excavations Ltd. Construction began in Spruce Grove on Spruce Grove Way the week of June 3, 2024.
Overview
The aim of this project is to conduct preventative maintenance and replace corroded valves and fittings along the water and sewer mains. By replacing these components, we aim to prolong the lifespan of the existing infrastructure and reduce the need for future unplanned repairs.
Water main and repair location
Spruce Grove Way at South side of Spruce Grove Park entrance through to the end of Spruce Grove Way on the Fitzsimmons Creek flood water berm. See map below for construction limits.
Sewer Main repair location
Spruce Grove Way at South side of Spruce Grove Park entrance through to the end of Spruce Grove Way on the Fitzsimmons Creek flood water berm.
Construction Impact
During construction, water service interruptions are expected. Notices will be provided to affected residents 24 hours prior to any shutdowns. However, there will be no sewer service interruptions during the repairs.
Construction activities will also result in equipment noise and an increase in the number of construction vehicles. Minor delays and single-lane alternating traffic traffic may occur throughout the project duration.
Please note: temporary no parking is in effect along Spruce Grove Way between Fitzsimmons Road North and the Spruce Grove Field entrance, Monday, June 3 to end of September 2024.
