Whistler’s FireSmart team is committed to educating local businesses on FireSmart best practices, hosting workshops for landscapers, arborists, builders and other professionals that can make a meaningful difference in reducing wildfire risk.
2024 FireSmart Landscaping Workshop
Five companies participated in the 2024 FireSmart Landscaping Workshop: Garibaldi Tree & Landscape, Whistler Landscaping, Super Natural Landscapes, Pika Landscapes and Soundgarden Landscape & Design.
The workshop presented a comprehensive summary of FireSmart principles, including basic fire science, wildfire ignition mechanics, fuel pathways (horizontal and vertical), the Priority Zones model, the FireSmart BC Landscaping Hub and Plant Program, and more.
Participants are to be commended for being an active part in reducing wildfire risk in Whistler and Sea to Sky, putting knowledge into practice and sharing their knowledge to homeowners, business owners and other clients.
