Whistler Olympic Plaza lawn is closed for grass renewal
The lawn at Whistler Olympic Plaza is closed while we regrow the grass for summer. The lawn is expected to reopen in mid-June, depending on weather.
Brief closure at Bayly Park for shade sail installation at Andree Vajda Janyk Plaza from April 27 to May 8
We are installing a shade sail at the Andree Vajda Janyk Plaza at Bayly Park between April 27 to May 8. The plaza will be briefly closed mid-week for the work.
Library survey for teens collecting input on books and library programs — and prize draw
Are you a teen? Whistler Public Library wants to hear your thoughts about what you’re reading (or not reading), your interests and if you use the library in this survey. The survey includes a prize draw and runs until May 24!
40 Books for 40 Years
Forty years ago, on August 27, 1986, Whistler Public Library opened its doors for the first time. The library team invites you to celebrate the 40th birthday with a reading challenge: 40 Books for 40 Years. Your challenge is to read 40 books this year – any genre, fiction or non-fiction, and physical books, e-books, and audiobooks are welcome. This challenge is designed to spark curiosity, encourage trying new genres, and reconnect with reading. Learn more.
Food trucks return to Whistler’s parks from May 15
Local food trucks return to Lost Lake Park and Rainbow Park on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holiday Mondays from May 15 through June 21 with the Park Eats program. The trucks are there 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In peak season, from June 26 through September 7, Lakeside Park, Lost Lake Park and Rainbow Park will have food trucks daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will also be food trucks at Whistler Olympic Plaza at some events. Find the full schedule and vendors.

Parking rates in Village Day Lots 1 to 5 increase May 4
Parking rates in the Village Day Lots are increasing May 4. Day Lots 1, 2 and 3 will be $4 per hour, $21 per day and $123 per month. Day Lots 4 and 5 will be $3.50 per hour, $13 per day and $48 per month. The oversize section of Day Lot 3 will be $5.25 per hour and $45 per day.
Whistler moves to Water Conservation Stage 2 on May 1
In-ground automatic irrigation systems can water three days a week between the hours of 10 p.m. and 4 a.m., with the days determined by your address.
Edible gardens can be watered by any irrigation method any day of the week between 7 and 10 a.m. as well as 8 to 11 p.m.
Trees, shrubs and flower beds can be watered manually or by hand any day of the week between 7 and 10 a.m. as well as 8 to 11 p.m.
Apply for a Temporary Irrigation Permit if you have new landscaping that needs more frequent watering. Read more about water conservation restrictions.

You can drop off yard waste for free at the Nesters and Function depots until November.
Stay safe near the railroad now the Rocky Mountaineer is running for the summer season
CN reminds the community to be rail smart:
- stay a safe distance from tracks and crossings,
- look both ways and listen before crossing tracks,
- taking a shortcut across tracks, or being on rail property is illegal.
The average train needs 2 km to stop. Call the CN Police at 1-800-465-9239 if you see unsafe behaviour.

Prepare for wildfire season and other emergencies: May 25
Learn how to pack your grab-and-go bag, and your home emergency kit to prepare yourself and your home. The workshop is running on Monday, May 25 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Whistler Public Library community room.
Buy and sell at the Community Garage Sale: May 10
Everyone can buy and sell at the AWARE Community Garage Sale in the Creekside Underground Parking lot on Sunday, May 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

WILDFIRE FUEL MANAGEMENT
Alta Lake Road north
We are managing vegetation in partnership with the Cheakamus Community Forest to reduce wildfire risk along the north end of Alta Lake Road. The work continues in the area shown on the map as unit 1. This includes temporary closures on the River Runs Through It trail and Rainbow Express trail area, north of the Whistler Cemetery, and the Rainbow Falls and lower Between the Creeks trail areas.
Work continues in the unit 2 area on the map. This work involves temporary trail closures on: Barts Dart Trail, River Runs Through It Access Trail and A River Runs Through It.
Please respect all signs and staff for safety reasons because there will be machinery operating and tree falling. Trails will be restored following the work. View our website to learn more.
Highway 99 (east side) near Whistler Village
We are managing vegetation along Highway 99 in the area shown on the map as TU-1C until mid-May. This is on the east side of Highway 99 Whistler Village between Nancy Greene Drive and Village Gate Boulevard.
There will be temporary Valley Trail detours and intermittent closures in the area. Please respect all signs and staff for safety reasons because there will be machinery operating and tree falling. View our website to learn more.
Highway 99: next to Whistler Golf Course (west side) and near golf driving range to Alta Vista Public Works Yard (east side)
We are managing vegetation along Highway 99 on the west side of the highway next to the Whistler Golf Course, and on the east side of the highway from the golf driving range to the Alta Vista Public Works Yard. This work is in the area shown on the map as TU-1D. The work runs from the week of May 4 to mid-June.

Paving work on Blackcomb Way between Sundial and Village Gate Boulevard: May 4 to 8
Construction to improve the paving on Blackcomb Way is happening Monday, May 4 to Friday, May 8 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Blackcomb Way will have single-lane alternating traffic, minor traffic delays and potential congestion (view map). Expect construction vehicles and increased noise. Please follow signage and traffic controllers around the work zone.
Paving work on Glacier Lane near Glacier Ridge Employee Housing: May 11 to 15
Construction to improve the paving on Glacier Lane near the Glacier Ridge Employee Housing from the Blackcomb Gate to Glacier Drive (view map) is happening Monday, May 11 to Friday, May 15 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Glacier Drive will have single-lane alternating traffic, minor traffic delays and potential congestion. Expect construction vehicles and increased noise. Please follow signage and traffic controllers around the work zone.
Construction on the Brio water services begins May 25
Construction on the Brio water services and valve replacement project begins Monday, May 25 with construction scheduled to be complete September 30, 2026. The work will replace Brio’s water services, fire hydrants and valves over three years to improve reliability because many of these have reached the end of their service life.
Brio residents will be given 72 hours notice if the water will be temporarily shut off. Expect equipment noise, odor, construction vehicles and minor vehicle and pedestrian delays during the work. Please follow directions from signs and traffic controllers.
Construction on Millars Pond sewer lift station (2773 Cheakamus Way) begins May 18
Construction to upgrade part of the Millars Pond sewer lift station begins Monday, May 18 with completion scheduled for August 2026. The project upgrades the station serving 21 homes. We are using a temporary bypass to ensure uninterrupted sewer service during construction.
Residents should expect equipment noise, odor and construction vehicles on site. There will be minor road delays for vehicles and pedestrians during the work. Please follow directions from signs and traffic controllers.
Meadow Park rejuvenation work is underway
Fully funded by the Province of B.C. through the Resort Municipality Initiative, this project will replace the Meadow Park playground, splash park and realign the Valley Trail. This project will also transition the ball fields into open greenspace with a fenced off-leash dog area. There will be varying closures within the parks and adjacent parking areas over the spring and summer while our crews complete this exciting project. RCMP renovation underway
Please expect reduced parking at Municipal Hall, and increased construction activity, noise and traffic throughout this period. Construction is scheduled until October.
