Business Licence fees and payment

Whistler business licences expire on December 31 each year. Renewal fees are due by January 31 each year. All business licences renew automatically each calendar year, unless you choose to opt-out of the auto-renewal during the online application process.

Application fee

Effective February 1, 2020, a fee of $25 is applicable for all new business licence applications in addition to the annual licence fee. Licence renewals are exempt from the application fee. A fee of $10 applies to changing an existing licence such as change of location and/or change of ownership.

The application fee and change to existing licence fee can be paid online using a credit card as part of the online business licence application process. If you don’t have a credit card, please email businesslicences@whistler.ca to discuss alternative application and payment options.

Licence fees

Licence fees vary depending on the type of business you operate. Business licence fees are outlined in the Business Licence and Regulation Bylaw. Visit the applicable licensing web page for fees specific to each business type. Business Licence and Regulation Bylaw 2253 was adopted in December 2019, and all licence fees increased as part of this bylaw. The last fee update prior to this occurred in 2005. Business Licence fees cover the cost of administration, bylaw enforcement and reviews and inspections by the Bylaw, Planning, Building, Parks, Engineering and Fire Departments.

Renewals

Business licences expires on December 31 each year and renew automatically unless you have opted out during the application process. Invoices for renewed licences are sent out in November or December each year and are due and payable January 31 each year.
